As much as we rely on our cars to get us from one place to another, it’s no secret that accidents can and do happen. Unfortunately, some of these accidents can result in serious injury, property damage, and even fatalities.

Sometimes, people file lawsuits against the responsible parties and win car accident settlements or judgments for their losses. In fact, anyone injured in a car accident due to someone else’s negligence may be entitled to compensation.

In this blog post, we will outline seven of the most famous car accidents where people won money in a lawsuit following the accident.

#1 Princess Diana’s Fatal Crash

On August 31, 1997, Princess Diana of Wales and her boyfriend, Dodi Fayed, were killed in a car accident in Paris, France. The car was driven by Henri Paul, the acting security manager of the Ritz Hotel, where Diana and Fayed were staying. Paparazzi were reportedly chasing the vehicle at the time of the crash.

Diana’s family filed a lawsuit against the owners of the hotel, claiming that they were negligent in their duty to protect her.

The case was settled out of court for an undisclosed amount, but some reports estimate that the settlement was worth several million dollars.

#2 Tracy Morgan’s Van Crash

Truck driver fatigue is becoming more and more prevelant noawadays with giant companies such as Amazon pushing their workers past ethical working limits.

The case was settled out of court for a reported $90 million.
